I'm currently 3db down and 5db up...

Or is it just adslmax which has the 6db lower limit?

Mine goes from 3db down and 8db up depending on the time of day. Just got a new Netgear dgnd3300v2 so I am monitoring my router  :dunno:.

I agree it's going to vary either way with noise but I think if I recall correctly we have seen a margin of 3db on ADSL2+ not sure whether it was Rik,Kinmel or both at one stage?

Yep, on ADSL2+, if the MTBE is high enough at a 6db target then the DLM will try a 3db target.

I was a permanent 6db until some weeks ago. It then dropped to 3.6db with no loss of performance. Speeds in general have risen and I can fathom no reason why other than BT upping my profile to 18000 from 17000. Using dg834gV4 btw.

I see they haven't fixed the bug in the speedtester yet, Rick. ;)

At first, my ADSL2+  noise margin was 6dB but after the next reboot of the router, it dropped to 3.5 where it's remained ever since.  Like sobranie, I also gained a higher sync, in my case 1000kbps.

Difficult to gauge how stable it is as Openreach are all over the place at the moment in preparation for FTTC later in the year but it's pretty stable.

QuoteMTBE is that mean time between error?
Certainly is. Sorry about the delay in confirming, got tied up today in the office and had to do some work instead
of lounging on the forum. ;D

I can beat that and I'll let you know when the router next loses sync or PPP.

Probably in the next five minutes, now that I've posted this.

Damn you BT, stop reading my posts!   :D

My word, I hope I get those kind of stats when I hook up to FTTC next week. You must live in the BT cabinet ;D

We're not getting FTTC until December and my current stats allow me the luxury of holding fire until all the teething problems have been sorted out, courtesy of all you beta testers.

I wish someone would write a line of code into the BT DLM that says in effect 'if not broken, leave well alone'

Bill

Assuming it's a subroutine, changing the first line to RETURN would improve it no end.
