iPhone OS 4.01 and jailbreak

re iPhone . The blobs or SHSH if saved will allow you to return to a previous or earlier OS i.e 4.02 can't be jailbroken currently on the 3GS and Apple will not let you go back. If however you've saved the blobs you can go back to 4.01 and jailbreak.

Why might I want to jailbreak my iPhone 4 which was delivered with 4.01 and is currently wanting to update itself to 4.02 every time I plug it into my PC?

Also does anyone know the process involved for getting the free handset cover? So far I've found the phone to be completely unusable in my house (no network signal) until I put it down (1-3 bars). My daughter's iPhone is the same although both do work a little better when she's holding the handset (1-2 bars). It seems like you need to download an app which in turn means opening an account with Apple using a valid credit card?

Jailbreak opens the iPhone up to third party apps from the  Cydia and Rock repositories, plus it allows some customisation of the phone interface itself.

i.e http://cydia.saurik.com/

Jailbreak will however I think invalidate your warranty.

With regard to network signal that  relates to specific provider network coverage and also the iPhone 4 issue with signal strength varying whilst holding the phone without a case.

To purchase  an app or download a free app you do need an iTunes store account.
