So is it an IDnet DNS server issue?  Can anyone confirm that?

It is for some, it isn't for others.

Reading the threads on a topic before posting about it can often pay dividends.

Still a bit of a mess here.

Same as lot of other people -  Intermittent email and  problems with ebay (etc).  Bit of a pain really becuase Sunday night is my ebay maintenance  time  and it's not been possible to do it this evening.  :rant2:

Hope it all sorted out soon, generally service has been pretty good  over the last few years.  :thumb:

Its a mess here, dns failures still slow browsing, issues with goggle on my pc, and Skype over my iPhone cannot connect properly and I wanted to call my friend in Czech Republic whose granddad has died.   :( Guess this will all be fine by morning, until then it looks like Open DNS time for me.

been getting disconnections all day during this problem.. watched my internet 'light' as it went out just now, then went red.. then green.. then net was back.. been dropping out like this all day.. i really wish it was JUST a dns issu, but this upgrade has now re-awakened an old problem.

And i've bought 2 routers, had bt out, and recabled my entire interior wiring twice.. to cure.

I've never had internet as bad as this in all the years.

What old problem? Can you explain? its just an issue with IDNet that will get sorted what ever you had BT out for is not part of this problem, all was fine untill the works started, talk to IDNet in the morning if you still have problems, I'm sure things will smooth out tomorrow and be back to its old self hopefully, its not permanent.  :)

The planned maintenance was advised in advance , notices were on the IDNet site and here on the forum and as stated in the notices there would be some downtime for users. Equipment needs replacing updating at some point and it is inevitable that upgardes will affect connections at some point.

If you use the RSS feed for status reports you would get advanced warning to your email inbox.

I can. One name server is down and  has been taken out of service to fix. OpenDNS has been used to replace it.

It all seems to be working now for me, this morning

Out of curiosity- was this connected with yesterday's upgrade or was it just an example of Sod's Law at its best?

I re-synced at 242 kbps this morning.  :shake:

Is this likely to be part of the weekends problems or just my usual ongoing poor line issue?

I'm talking to an ex BT linesman right now and he seems to think that sort of speed should trigger an automatic investigation... I bet he's wrong.

Able to access IdNetters from Spain now.  :thumb:

Poor line, the routing problems wouldn't affect sync.

I've been unable to access the site from work until now, the same with webmail.

Only just come back here too. Haven't been able to get to idnet.net and access to my own line has been sporadic at best. I hope the routing is all better today, it's been a very messy 24 hours.

Rik

Both DNS nameservers are working normally again now, as far as I know.

I run a separate DNS on the server. The biggest issue is external access to my IP has been up and down all the time, mostly down. Perhaps this is routing changes propagating across the UK, I don't know.

I'm told it could take up to 24 hours for all the changes to propagate.

I'm still on Open DNS and my router is set to pick up automatically, its a Netgear no idea why it has not changed over  :bawl:

Steve

As a rule I use OpenDNS full time and I think it's unlikely to change especially following recent events.

OpenDNS isn't infallible :P

And if I put a typo in a url I prefer a simple "Server not found" to half a page of gumph :(

Thats why I don't use it, although I still am oddly when it should have swapped back to IDNets by now, even after two reboots and a 10 min power off  :dunno:
