Same thing happened to me after a Firefox update a few months back and it was because the "Remember search and form history" box had somehow become ticked.

The Google thing is about to get worse - not only suggestions but also results.

Better not do any searches regarding sexism then....or trying to find out what that small blue bird that sometimes appears in the garden....or indeed the male species of any bird!

I think Google have shot them selves in the butt with these changes. Their "Filtering" often does NOT filter XXX images and content, inappropriate links, images and adverts are being shown even with "Strict" filter selected, now with instant results as you type children have access to bad content before a parent or teacher can react.

Schools will have to drop Google search, my lads school has only been back 4 days since the holidays and already they are looking at blocking Google from their network.

Alan's example of "tit" as in bird produces ads for sex workers, escorts etc to the right of the results and in images pornographic pictures amongst the searched for content.

Rik

I'm liking Google less and less...

Hmmm. It's a pity. I specifically dropped Yahoo search for Google back in my school days. Mainly because Google had "descriptions" before the links. Yahoo had some, but were often wrong (people tricked the search bots that yahoo used to no end). I've stuck with google since. But as you said, if it's automatically redirecting you, and incorrectly, it's a problem. I can see it going back really quickly.

I didn't getting anything other feathers with safe search strict on although I appreciate anything less than 'strict' the feathers start to come off.

I'm clearly being robbed. I have SafeSearch off and get the following with Instant (search) turned on...

T - Tesco
TI - Ticketmaster
TIT - Titanic
TITS - Blank page

P - PayPal
PO - Post Office
POR - Portal
PORN - Blank Page

Until I hit return on the full word I just get a blank page returned  :dunno:

Wow. That's actually good of them to implement a filter. I just commented on how they give wrong results, never got a "dodgy" one myself. Others here on the forum suggested that.
