Carrier pigeons faster than broadband

At least according to the Telegraph:

As my profile has just dropped to 135 and the BT Speedchecker regards 50 (little more than dialup speeds) as aceptable, I'm finding it quicker to use my iPhone to post this whilst sitting in a coffee shop.

OK contacted support and they're going to perform a line reset so the speed should go up later this afternoon

I suspect this problem is not going to go away, so I can see me taking the hit with a BT visit. Wouldn't be so bad if they actually did something for the money.

iDNet have done a line reset. Not sure what it involves but I've not seen such a fast connection speed since I first got broadband. Sadly it won't last as the SNR is already down to 6dB and it's only around 7:30pm

Still full marks to them for being quick off the mark, they really are helpful - well so far as BT will let them

Post a comment in support of iDNet on TB and I'd be accused of fanboy-ism, astroturfing, stupidity, (you can get broadband for half the price with two boy scouts thrown in) etc etc.......

Just fired up RouterStats and noticed that the DLM has turned off interleaving, so it's no wonder the speed is dropping.

I wonder if WiFi networks like the unobtainable and hard to get hold of Kijoma will be the way to go for some people Rik, I emailed them....6mths ago and never got a reply, I can get 40meg up and 40meg down £2 per Gb pay for what you use at that speed which is what they offer as the only plan for their top tier speeds in upgraded areas, but you have to have line of site still I believe

I suppose WiFi may be easier as the exchange does not have to unbundled you just have an aerial on your house and Ethernet straight to your router, if you could get hold of the barstewards

Perhaps they have been swamped with demand Gary and won't take any further orders until they carry out more capacity upgrades (transceivers and backhaul)
