New mobile phone,new security tools.

Just had to get a new mobile phone, not something I use much but need a simple phone to keep in touch with school.

Replaced an aging Vodafone something with the Samsung GT-E2550.  Does all I need and more and while looking through the book just now I find it has an SOS system which allows a pre written message to be sent out to selected numbers ,this is tripped by 4 presses of a key. It also has a similar alert system that sends out a message to several phones of your choice if anyone changes the Sim card. So if you lose your phone/it gets stolen and a tealeaf tries to use it a message is tripped and a tracker is activated which identifies the location of the phone.

Indeed.  I've never found Samsung phones particularly intuitive, but that sounds a very good idea.

What do you think to their build quality? A friend of mine seems to have had a lot of bad luck with them - though that may be attributed to a lot of beer.

I had an A800 for about 1 week several years ago, took it back as it would not hold onto a signal.

That was one of the problems he had, the other was they kept falling apart - though I think that was where the beer came in.

That's why I dislike plastic phones.

Skagen have started using carbon fibre dials, perhaps phone manufacturers will follow?

Errr yeah, at a price I bet.

Undoubtedly, but they should still be cheaper than the gold ones, Mitch.
