Hi, recently i had a freeze and crash problem when streaming videos on the web like u tube, i reinstalled thinking that would help, but its still the same, after mybe a minute it would lock up on me, and control alt and delete do nothing, then it would crash, also when i go to my computer and properties and hardware i notice a yellow ! at ethernet network controller, i have tried to update drivers and get no luck,it says the hardware was not installed, the wizard cannot find the neccassery hardware, any help on this would be great, you guys have helped me out on a few occasions so i thought i would ask...thanks

Glenn

Anything in the event logs?

What are the specs of the machine?

The yellow next to the ethernet controller probably means it needs the specific drivers provided by the Motherboard manufacturer

You certainly need to sort out the driver issue as that could well be the cause of your problems. As Steve says, they could well be mobo specific. Something else I would certainly try is to see if this happens in another browser. which browser are you currently using as a matter of interest?

My specs are amd athlon 64x2 dual core 5000+
2 gb corshair gaming ram
9600 gt

Is there anyway i can get drivers for the ethernet controller? i have a gigabyte mobo also, the thing that most is bugging me is not being able to stream anything, i love playing my music through u tube and i meant to say previously that i reinstalled and its still the same...thanks

Glenn

As the others have said, checkout the motherboard manufacturers site for drivers.

Have you tried turning off the computer and disconnecting the powerlead for a few seconds?  This sometimes works funnily enough, worth trying anyway.

Youtube has a flash based player, have you tried updating Flash from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Barndog

Thanks for the replys, i have used internet ex 8 and tried google chrome as well and still the same, im using adobe flash player also, unfortunatly im not very good at finding exactly what im looking for as to the ethernet controller drivers, could anyone be so nice as mybe post a link for me so i can just click and download the drivers that i need, im using gigabyte motherboard, thanks so much

pctech

Not that easy unfortunately as manufacturers have a habit of using different controllers on different board models.

Do you have the model nunber of your mobo?

Well i installed the driver twice and wasnt able to connect to the net,i had to do system restores to get back online, dont know whats up? also uninstalled flash player and reinstalled but it dont give me an option to install active x, since my last post my pc has crashed 4 times after a few seconds of u tube :eek4:

cavillas

Have you tried shutting down the machine and disconnecting from the mains?  The reasonI have said this is that i have a Gigabyte board and lost connection through the Lan card, I re-installed the drivers but still no connection, I then shut down the machine and turned thepwoer off from behind I then re-started and itconnecetd withour problems from then on. This was with Windows XP, however, but it couldbe a similar phenomenum with Vista and win 7.  No harm in trying it.

Barndog

Yeah tried setting up a connection again, but no joy

D-Dan

it's a long shot but try going to properties for your network controller in device manager and throttling it to 10 mbs, then download the driver.

i had this work with a win 7 machine before.

Steve
Have I lost my way?
