Best time to resync?

What's the best time of day to resync?  :dunno:

This morning I resync'd at just over 4Mb with a 9dB NM, this evening, my NM had dropped to 6.1dB so though I'd resync, but I only got 3.5Mb.

Is there a link, or are they not as closely related as I first thought?

Thanks.

Simon

We usually advise to resync in the mornings, based on the theory that there's less traffic around then.

If you want maximum speed, resync when the noise margin is high, but be prepared to put up with sync drops.

If you want maximum stability, resync when the noise margin is low, but be prepared for lower speed.

Noise margin and speed are pretty directly related- high speed leads to a lower margin. So if you resync when the line is quiet you can achieve a higher speed before you hit the target value, but an increase in noise may cause the line to drop.

Conversely, resyncing when the line is noisier will give you a lower speed, but it will require even more noise before the line drops.

Hope that helps.

As Bill said AM for speed and evening for stability
