Sorry to say that I have defected to Sky today.
Have been very pleased with the IDnet service, the move is purely to save money.

IDnet told me that I can carry on using my e-mail address.
I seem to be able to receive but not send from Outlook - can send from webmail.
I guess that means I need to change my outgoing mail address in Outlook.
Does that sound logical?

Thanks
Rick

I would think that you will need to use Sky's SMTP server, Rick

Please keep us updated as to the service/connection. Is it LLU or Home access? I only ask, as it's hard to know which way it will swing (total loss of connection, or the best one ever).  :dunno:
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Thanks for the help

Started to change my settings but too much to think about after a long day at work and will also need to set up Sky e-mail addresses for the rest of the family.

Managed to send an e-mail thru webmail as a stop gap.

I believe I am on LLU but am a couple of miles from the exchange and have a bit of an archaic telephone connection in the house - the incoming point is an old bakelite thing and there are a number of connection coming out of it.
Seems to be working fine so far.
Speedchecks
Last night on IDnet 2.42 down, 0.36 up, ping 43
Tonight on Sky 3.53 down, 0.43 up, ping 63 but I guess that will vary during the initial period

Sounds good. Most companies are doing OK on their own hardware, compared to BT. It's just the exchanges stuck with BT like mine (although I do have Talk Talk, but they don't exist in my book. ;) ).

Been on for nearly a week now and the Speedtest readings seem to be stabilising:

From earlier post:
Last night on IDnet 2.42 down, 0.36 up, ping 43
Tonight on Sky 3.53 down, 0.43 up, ping 63 but I guess that will vary during the initial period

Typical figures for last few days:
2.65 down, 0.55 up, ping 42

I find it a bit odd that I was initially getting just above 3.50 down and this is now not being achieved.

Rik

It's quite normal. Systems start off running your connection as fast as it will go and then adjust until a stable connection is achieved.
