I frequently browse the forums at http://community.codemasters.com/forum/lord-rings-online-der-herr-der-ringe-le-seigneur-des-anneaux-417 and for the last week have had tremendous problems navigating around - in fact, probably since the total loss of service last weekend. Occasionally I can open a subforum or read a thread without issue but probably 80% of the time I either time out completely or open a corrupted page (No images for example). Haven't tried it from work (It would be blocked) so wondered if anybody here would be kind enough to try hitting the main forum page (Linked above) and then navigating to a sub forum or opening a thread or 2, at least then I can see if it's an issue here or further down then chain.

I'm using OpenDNS, have to confess I haven't tried it with any other DNS servers yet (Will do in a little while) although I have run a pathping to community.codemasters.com (Below). 17 hops strikes me as a lot and hops 15/16 suggest a VLAN/VPN Tunnel which I've not noticed when I've pathpinged anywhere else although may well have always been there.

The game itself gives no problems although of course is a different server - lotroeugls.com - which is 8 hops away and has an average ping time of 31ms so no issues there, would be good to be able to use the forums as well though!

Traceroute is similar for me but I've no issues browsing the forum in terms of speed and all subforums forums and threads rendering fine including images.

Thanks guys, I'll try a different DNS then in case that's the problem but other than that I'll have to scratch my head!

Having looked at their site again and found the "Service News" it seems their servers have been off for maintenance,

QuoteOct 14th 2010, 12:30 | Servers are back up!

Following earlier maintenance, the servers are now back online!

Oct 14th 2010, 08:00 | Maintenance today, servers are currently offline.

Don't forget that today is maintenance day. The servers are currently offline whilst our engineers tune them up and update them. They'll be back online at approximately 13.00 hours, UK time (GMT + 1).

whether that included the forum/site server too I am not sure.

Ah, that's the general game maintenance - every Thursday they have the game servers down for a few hours so well spotted but in this case, not relevant!

I've since tried Google DNS (No difference), IDNet DNS (No difference), a different browser (Opera, no difference) and a laptop PC (No difference).

Oh well, at least the game plays OK without timeouts - I feel for any MMO player who suffers from those!

Reboot your router?

Was pretty sure I did that during the week but did it again anyway, just to be sure - gained 500kb sync speed but made b*gger all difference to the browsing problem!

Thanks to all, guess I'll have to get used to it being iffy, hopefully when FTTC arrives here (Promised by end December) it'll be at least as good as it was 2 weeks ago!
