What do you guys think about this?

As we all know IDNet was broken yesterday.  I personally found this out by calling IDNet's support number and hearing the recorded message.  Part of the message suggested rebooting the router, so I thought I might as well try that... what's the worst that could happen?  Switched the router off for about an hour and switched it back on.  All the lights on the front are going crazy flashing like it's a 1970's disco lol.  The router is only a month or 2 old and cost quite a bit, it's a Vigor 2710n.  It seems to be knackered now.

Could rebooting it have broken it or is it just coincidence?

I'll never know for sure, but I've learned not to waste money on routers.  I just got a £40 netgear from currys and it seems to be doing the trick for now.

I would tend to reset it back to factory default. If the info is not readily available in the handbook a quick query posted here http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/Reviews.asp?ProductID=8106 should suffice.

If it does the same after a 20 minute power down try using the factory reset button.

Another coincidence. Yesterday I had a sudden burst of activity then a message listing a number of trojans and viruses had landed on my plate, so to speak. I deleted them and carried on. A few minutes later my internet connection failed, then the lights on my 2700 went spare, including thenever before seenred light. I spent ages trying to suss the problem to no avail, found that I had lost all my info on IDNET including the phone number. Of course this morning all is well. If nothing else it has taught me to keep paper backup as well as computer, so I will try to find pen and paper!
Nothing is perfect, not even my ignorance!
