Crawl errors due to network outage

The recent BT unpleasentness caused 4 google crawl errors to one of my websites.  It looks like this has resulted in quite a nasty penalty going from top 10 results to position 600+ for my main keywords

Has anyone had similar experience? If so, do you know how to fix it? 

Note to self:  Stop being such a cheapskate and go pay for some proper hosting!

TBH, I can't see why the outages would affect Google, since it was still possible for anyone outside the IDNet network, eg Google, to reach a site within it, eg the forum.
