Friends have just trasferred to idnet (yesterday).  I note that their f2s connx is still working. Just as a matter of interest, how long before f2s bow out of the equation.  I came from f2s originally  ::) but changed my router as soon as I could so have no idea of the f2s connx time.

I had to contact them to tell them that I had moved as they tried to bill me for the following 3 months. Once they were aware the account was closed straight away.

It seems quite common that there is a short period of overlap between BT connecting the new ISP and disconnecting the old one.  In other cases no overlap occurs.  This is down to the way BT does the work.

I think accounting errors by an ISP are a different issue, and it certainly is good advice, as Glenn says, to make sure the old ISP is told of the transfer.

As a matter of interest .... I came from F2S nearly 12 months ago.  The other day for something to do I had a look at their web-site.  As you know the log-in link is there, so I entered my old log-in details.  BINGO!! Straight in to the members page where everything is ready should I want to return ...........  :P  ::)
That doesn't mean I could have connected thro' them of course.

BT use a system called SSB to only allow connection to one ISP. Technically, it would be possible for us to have multiple accounts and change between them at will. I suppose BT would rather we had multiple phone lines instead. How long before SSB cuts in seems to be a matter of luck.

Over 12 months here, all details still there!!

Can't get over to see people concerned yet and they're scared stiff of altering settings/router etc.
Suffice to say I can't spk to f2s to make sure that they've bowed out as it were until such time as I've proven that idnet is up and running without any bt balls ups. (Their exchange is not the No 1 in the country I'm lead to believe).

Many thanks for all replies folks.
