...arrived, my new Ipod Touch was delivered yesterday and I must say it's an impressive piece of kit, I hadn't realised how much you could use it for and the range of Apps available for it. :thumb:

It's WiFi enabled so you can connect to a wireless network and send and receive email, surf the web and make VOIP phone calls, and the camera is capable of taking 720p HD video. The music playing side is good although the supplied headphones are as usual cr*p, fortunately I've got a decent pair of Sennheisers I can use.
The touch screen takes a bit of getting used to when you're typing, kept hitting the wrong key to start with :P but it gets better with a bit of practice :)

What sort of PDA-style apps are available, Ray?

You can synch your Outlook Calendar and Contacts and import Outlook email accounts into it, Rik, basically any app than runs on the Iphone will run on  the Ipod as it appears to use the same OS.

It is as you say essentially the same as an iphone without the phone functions.

Or facetime - the video calling (only to other new ipod touchs or iphone 4s).

I don't think people would want me to video call them. ;D

You can also now use Facetime on Mac computers  :thumb:
