Speed drop

I have just swapped my ADSL router/modem form linksys to netgear.
My download speed has dropped from 5.5mb to 2.8mb.
Is this normal whilst the connections are getting 'reset'?

Does the speed return if you swap the Linksys router back?

I completely disconnected the Linksys, don't really want to set it up again.
I shall monitor the new router and reconnect the Linksys for comparison should my speed not return.
I can live with 2.5 for now.

A different router should not produce such a dramatic swing in speeds. Like Glenn, I'd suggest checking with the Linksys.
