Hi,

My new @idnet.com email wont work this aft. Was fine this morn  ???  Just getting the box pop up asking for password but wont connect.

Task '@idnet.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts.  The server responded: -ERR Authentication failed.'

It's not the settings as this morning it worked fine. All other @idnetfreemail emails are fine too. Using Outlook 2007.

Hi Eve

This is one you may have to call support on, as obviously we can't look at your settings, or discuss them, here.

I would suggest, though, that you log in to the customer account page, select email, then settings for that account and then cut/paste the password into Outlook. I haven't seen 2007 (though I have a copy here), but if it's similar to 2003, you may also need to paste the password into a pop-up box during a mail pass. Double-check the user name against that shown on the email page. If all still looks OK, can you do a Test Account Settings (assuming that is still there) from the email account page in Outlook?

If none of this works, you will have to call support to get them to check what is happening.

I have, on one occasion, found that the SMTP server on one of my accounts timed out until I exited and re-started Outlook, really can't explain why though.

One final thought, and this is highly unlikely if all the other accounts are working - but could it be a firewall issue?

I copied and pasted the settings when I set it up. The test doesn't work. Doesn't work with firewall off. Maybe just one of those things. Restarted the pc too. See what it's like in the morning.

Rik

Sorry that didn't work, Eve. I think you need to call support because, as I said, we can't see your settings here, and we can't really discuss the detail in a public forum. :(

It might just be worth trying entering a new password via the account page, then changing the password in Outlook and see if that clears things...

Tried the password change, still didn't work. I tried logging into webmail and wouldn't accept it there either.

I can send but not receive. Strange. The settings are correct and it worked fine this morning and nothing changed since then.

Lance

I think you will need to call support to see if they can help you in the morning, Eve. I can't think of anything to suggest that Rik hasn't already.

It sounds as if something on the account has become corrupted, Eve. Give support a call in the morning, I'm sure they will be able to sort things out for you.

As I said on the other thread, it sorted itself out few hours ago, strange.

Rik

Did you close and re-open Outlook, that worked for me...

Computers are strange animals. :(

Nope, just didn't work from yesterday afternoon til about 12pm today then just started working!

I wouldn't be surprised if the pooter (my word for pc's!) starts barking next

Oh by the way, found a good site full of tools and tweaks, don't know if you've heard of it before. www.dslreports.com

Did Miriam say anything about that? It may be one of those inexplicable things that systems do. It's one of the reasons why I keep so many email accounts running.

I'm sure we could find you a suitable WAV file. ;)

I know DSL reports, thanks. I don't put a huge store by their recommendations, though, they tend to be a bit skinny on RWIN settings. I prefer http://www.speedguide.net/sg_tools.php and Netmonitor

She was going to reset it but it had sorted itself out but she didn't say what it was.

Ty for wav

Shame, that, Eve. It's always good to know what happened to I can add it to the database! :)

I'll keep my ears open for more dogs for you.
