Thanks.

I'll just add this here instead of a new thread.  Amazon search features.....can to stop it predicting what it thinks you want, you know the predictive texting type thing they use.

Simon

I don't think so, but you don't have to select what it offers.

Well, if it really bothers you, you can stop it easily if you are using Firefox. You need the Adblock Plus add on. When you have that installed, you configure it to include a blocking filter for this script:

If you do that, then the dropdown box below the search box does not appear at all and no suggestions are made.

Technical Ben

I think they have had flavours of it for a while. Google do beta stuff for ages.
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

QuoteCan I turn off location-based customization?

The customization of search results based on location is an important component of a consistent, high-quality search experience. Therefore, we haven't provided a way to turn off location customization, although we've made it easy for you to set your own location or to customize using a general location as broad as the country that matches your local domain.

If you find that your results for a particular search are more local than what you're looking for, you can set your location to a broader geographical area (such as a country instead of a city, zip code, or street address). Please note that this will greatly reduce the amount of locally relevant results that you'll see.

Hmmm. I've noticed they have set me down as Camden Town (probably a node somewhere). Not helpful. I always want to search Worldwide, or UK wide. I don't want, nor need anything closer than that, unless I specify. And even then it will be my destination not my location 90% of the time. So...  :rant2:
The only way to fix it is tell Google where I live? Hmmm.. I wonder if "UK" will work?

Ah, it did.  :thumb:
