Other than when I mentioned I've had no issues with youtube, anyone tried using OpenDNS?


Here are some instructions for disabling the DNS client caching service in Windows which will ensure that you always get a result from the DNS resolvers rather than Windows' cache.

Clear the DNS as per previous guidance and then do the following:

Windows XP:

1. Go to Start > Run and type services.msc and click OK
2. Scroll down to DNS client and right-click on it, next left click Properties.
3. Click Stop (a progress bar will appear while the service is being stopped)
4. When the progress bar disappears click Startup type and select disabled.
5. Click OK.

Vista/7:
As above but click start and type services into search and then click it on the list.

Sorry, but for the record, it's still fine for me, and I haven't had the issue at all, using SeaMonkey.

Facebook and IMDB are ok for me as well Rik, except the youtube clips on facebook etc

This last few weeks I have seen more errors loading pages than  care to ever want to see, Rik. Thats even on a fresh image as a just in case something was screwy check.  Some sites work fine others are a pain to load.

Well, I just tried changing over to IDNet DNS servers and... No youtube, couldn't even connect to server!

Swapped back to Norton as Primary, and Open dns as secondary... Bingo, youtube back! Coincidence ?

As I posted above, this is what I am finding as well. All working fine on Norton DNS but not on IDNet DNS.

I agree I'm fine on OpenDNS, Norton DNS but not on IDNet DNS I don't think it can be made any clearer can it. That's three of us with exactly the same result.

Tried it again, same result! It's IDNet DNS causing the problem. If you change to Norton DNS make sure you flush all caches before accessing youtube.

Using Norton DNS now, and no issues at all

It's also working fine by Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Using NortonDNS it fixed it for me as well!

*Change your DNS settings to: 198.153.192.1 and 198.153.194.1*

edit: By this I just mean the DNS settings on your lan cards IPv4 connection and not the router, then restart your browser and try again.
