Mikrotik Routers?

There was a discussion on another forum which mentioned these but I've not heard oif them before.

I am finding that I'm chomping through my bandwidth at a rate of knots so was going to apply port throttling to the Ethernet ports so was looking at other routers.

Never heard of them before, Routerboard is the name of their hardware and distributors are limited.

A colleague of mine set up a wireless hotspot system for his apartment community on Spain. The box used to control that is a Mikrotik router. It was quite a clever little beast IIRC. From what I can tell it was based around the Routerboard RB450 linked to a number of Buffalo WAP's operating in a WDS environment.

Thinking of getting one for two reasons.

1. It should allow me to throttle my ethernet ports a bit so I don't chew through my bandwidth quite so quick.

2. Its CLI based so will allow me to practice stuff.

If you get bored with the CLI you can always configure them with WinBox http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Winbox
