Just seen an advert on another site for BT Business Broadband... claiming 99.99% network reliability.

That works out as a maximum of 52 minutes 34 seconds outage time in any 12-month period. Any comment is superfluous I think

Doesn't quite fit with claim of 99.99% Network reliability somehow...

This is of course for their fibre leased links rather than ADSL.

Figures. The planned outage tonight is already 5x longer than the downtime for 99.99% uptime!

And if you live in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the north of England, it's a mere fraction of the downtime you've already experienced since July.

I doubt it covers hostlinks and there is probably provision for routine maintenance in the agreement for these.

I wonder if there's provision for incompetence, which BT have virtually admitted over the Edinburgh node?

I don't know Rik but I do know I'd never work for them.

I'd quite happily work for BT. Get paid lots for doing little and doing it wrongly with no consequences!

I spoke to a cabbie recently who asked me what I did for a living, after telling him he revealed he used to work for BT within their IT section.

I explained they were my least favourite company because of how long my line was and trouble I'd had with speed and he said yes I can understand that but he said he'd enjoyed working for them.

I asked him what he missed and he said 'well my mates but most of all my American Express charge card'

I'm actually Hackney and Private Hire, so it could have been me, but as I've only been to MK once in my life, I don't think I'd pass the knowledge test round there.

I was on the CB for a while when I was younger and used to be able to talk to folk travelling on the A5D, a lot of visitors used to ask for directions to the concrete cows.

I once reported some 'gypsies' to the police as they were busy painting the cows. It transpires they were working for the council.

I read in the local paper the council are planning to switch off the lights on the roads to save money leaving only the roundabouts and junctions illuminated.

I reckon there'll be a lot more accidents.
