I'll be away from home for a week soon and I was wondering whether to switch my adsl modem/router off or not. Previously when on 2Mb service I'd think nothing of switching it off. However now I'm on adsl max will shutting it off for a week adversely affect my profile? Any ideas?  ???

I would recommend that you shut it down and disconnect it from the phone line Rob. That way, any thunderstorms that might occur will not damage your profile or your equipment.

A long-term disconnection like that is not seen as a problem by the DLM, it will just wait till you wake the line up again, and then resume watching...

I switched off whenever I was away sitting last year with no adverse effect on profile.

I agree, that is the only time that I switch mine off, I also disconnect the phone line, just in case, never any problem on my return.

If your absence is for a holiday Rob, have a great time. ;)

Cheers Inactive. It's a walking holiday in the Cotswolds. I'll be staying near Evesham so I'm planning a visit to Evesham Technology to see if they have any good pcs on sale, perhaps they'll have a returned one going cheep  ;D
