My jury is still out too, but I've cancelled it anyway. C&C4, Dragons age origins expansion and Supreme Commander 2 are all out this month, and I know I like those so I'll get SC2 this month and the other two next month :)

BC2 can wait. There's no reason to preorder it really as I doubt the game will be much better than previous. I did a bit of a google search yesterday (as it's payday today I thought I'd check :D) and there are more reviews out there saying the hitboxes are still as bad and there are a few other bugs with it. If the final release gets rave reviews after a couple months, then I may get it.

I decided I wanted 5 Rory Gallagher albums and the best of Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac more ;D

Don't buy SUPCOM2 before pirating it to try it. It's cr*p.

EDIT: There is a demo out on steam so you don't even need to pirate it to behold the wreckage of a previously good game that it is.

Oddly enough I was just about to cancel my order as it doesn't look any different from the first one. I'll just play C&C4 instead.

I received my copy from GAME yesterday and I have already played it for a few hours in single player mode and I think it is excellent. I did have a sound problem with it after a couple of hours play time, but after exiting the game and restarting it was fine again.

Its a good game, Hit boxes and the controls have been sorted out. I hated the heavy feeling you got in the demo when aiming.

Still though, the unbalanced teams online is kinda annoying. I seem to get put on a team that wants to team kill everyone even though team damage is off.. they don't seem to notice that 3 clips put into there own team mate is doing no damage  :rant2:

I didn't bother in the end. I was thinking of getting it today, but I've found a few scathing reviews of the single player so I'm not bothering.

As I said previously, I thought it is excellent, but I finished it today (about 5-6Hours playing time), which is much too short, although I did try the easier option first. I only did this because one of the last shooters I bought was Operation Flashpoint-Dragon Rising, which I feel is very difficult especially as it lacks an easy option and I keep getting stuck at the same point, so I have given up on it now. I keep looking for a cheat to enable me to get past the point (the Fuel Depot), I am stuck on, but there appears to be none available.

I'v played a couple of hours of the single player and I'm not particularly impressed....it's a bit linear 'move here and shoot people, then move up there and shoot people'. It doesn't scratch MW2 in terms of single-player goodness but the multiplayer is excellent in my opinion.

The PC version is having a couple of server problems from lots of server companies making some people unable to connect to all the servers (including me) but I can connect to the good UK hosting companies such as Multiplay.co.uk so it's not too big a deal for me.

Sorry for digging up an old thread (well, I'm not really as it's adding to the thread; just being polite :D)

I bought this the other day for £13. I spent today playing it as I was up at the crack of dawn, after a sleepless night on Thursday leading me to have an early night last night.

I have finished the game, and I have to say, I'd be VERY displeased if I'd not cancelled the pre order I made originally. Whilst the voice acting was fine, the single player is VERY VERY clearly aimed at making you spend a long time searching areas you shouldn't have to, to unlock weapons, I assume are then available in multiplayer. I assume this as the areas you find these "collectable" weapons is completely irrelevant to the actual mission. In fact you only know the areas are there by spotting them on the map and wondering why they're there.

The nerd in me appreciates it a bit, but my mind tells me it's to needlessly pad out a short single player game, to justify a then £30-£40 game. I'm going to try the multiplayer game tomorrow, but I really think that so long has passed since the release, despite punkbuster, I fear my experience will consist of snipers at distance constantly stopping people playing, cheats and people bombarding destructible buildings.

Also, all the features they made such a big fuss about in the preview trailers, such as seeing people through walls with certain tanks, etc, seems pointless. I've seen a few reviews taking the mick out of this game, stating "when the dust settles, it's a disappointing game", which is a reference to all the dust, sandstorms and light flares that restrict views. While I'm sure this was difficult to code originally, it's clearly a method of hiding the fact that despite a few very nice looking panoramic scenes, the game has very limited graphical appeal. This is mainly to keep multiplayer a valid option for the game, or in reality, squeezing a game out of a multiplayer.

I had a go online the other day and it was a bit of a disappointment really. While it looks really nice, the actual game play is hindered by the fact everyone is using sniper rifles. The one game I joined was half way through and all the buildings were destroyed, while there was one sniper across from the spawn area, a tank patrolling around the base and some sort of ranged weapon being used by 3 people near their base.

Spawn
die
spawn

spawn

Etc.

Just to resurrect this thread.  A Vietnam add on is now available for £9.99.  Its multiplayer only and has five new maps and historical weaponry.  Oh, and the music's pretty good too. :D

This was on sale on steam the other day, but I never bought it. I did buy c&c4 though despite the cr*p reviews. I'll need something to do while I'm off ad my lens has displeased into the ether.
