Hi all,

Whats the best router for a struggling DSL connection?  We have an IDNET connection that is barely acheiving 256kbps.  I've talked to IDNET support and unfortunately its mostly just a case of distance from the exchange.  We've just ordered a proffessional quality master faceplate filter to see if that improves things a little, but I also wondered if it was worth getting a router that may be a little better at handling the low snr?  The existing router is a Netgear DG834n.

Any advice much appreciated!

Hi Mike

What's the line attenuation?

Hi Rik,

I'm afraid I don't know that at the moment, the issue is that this isn't my connection, it's our MD's.  I'm going to try and get down there when I get a chance, but so far I've had to do everything either by email or phone, so logging into the router and talking them through things hasn't really been an option.

Best,

Mike

Could IDNet tell you?

I'm thinking that a 2-Wire 2700 could be a good bet for you, but knowing the stats would help.

I agree with Rik. The 2700HGV may be able to work its magic.
