iTunes Help!

I've just started using iTunes to import some music to my iPhone. I've imported an album, but I want to add a couple of extra tracks to the album, from another album, to be played in the sequence I choose. I've imported the extra tracks into the Library, as 'Genesis - Extra Tracks' (for arguments sake), but I can seem to move tracks from one album to another. Can it be done?

Can you edit the song tags so that they appear to come from the same album. (on the mac version it's get song info >info.) You should see artist, album and track number

Yeah, that worked, but what a bleeding carfuffle! You not only have to change the album title, but then every individual track number, individually, to get them in the right order. Has Apple not heard of drag and drop?

The iTunes library I think pulls the details from the songs ID3 tags so you have to change those so that iTunes then sees them as something different or belonging somewhere else. iTunes is not a great program for changing song tags, I couldn't even copy details from one tag to another.

A proper tagging program makes life easier i.e http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainzTagger or Magic MP3 tagger. iTunes often gets the tags wrong especially with differing album releases for different countries and it makes a real mess of our 'supermarket compilations

Use wallpaper paste.

One way round your problem would be to make a playlist.

Get them pre wrapped when possible

Yeah, but then you don't get the cover art, do you? I probably will do a playlist at some point. I just wanted some albums on there first, that I haven't listened to in a while. Getting back into '76-'82 Genesis at the moment. Their best era, IMO.

If you use a proper tagger you'll got more choice with artwork, also with iTunes you can drop a .jpg into the tag the same way you changed the tag for the song info.

This program works well for finding artwork and you can embed it as well.

Rik, as far as I am aware, the iPod on an iPhone is the same as a stand alone iPod.

You get the small image next to the 'song' and a full size image on the 'play' screen, so if you've got an iPad for instance the embedded image size is important for the picture quality. This is when programs like Bliss come into their own as you can choose the album art resolution

You can search for cover art and add it to iTunes, just find a picture of the album if iTunes cannot find it, and edit the album, all my albums have cover art on my iphone whether bought via iTunes or not.
