Issues with Outlook 2007 after applying KB2412171

To cut to the chase, my Outlook 2007 client will receive but no longer send mail. When I try to send a single mail it attempts to send over 40 others which simply don't exist. The error is...

Quote! Task 'someone@idnet.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by you server.'

I'm going with the broken Microsoft update as the cause. I have identified it from the links above and I have it listed in my update history but it is not listed under Installed Updates where I would have the facility to uninstall it. I'm not in a position to roll back using the restore facility and I really don't what to uninstall and reinstall a heavily modified and patched Office which is the suggested fix.

Anyone know how to remove a Microsoft patch that doesn't appear in the Installed Updates list? I'm running Windows 7.

I have but this update was issued in mid December and it's far to far to roll back.

OK, after spending hours on this I've fixed the issue.

Steve's roll back method would have worked except that the update had been subsequently updated which is probably why it wasn't available to be removed. Just in case anyone else has this issue, setting the option to force a log on to the incoming server before sending outgoing mail fixed it. I don't fully understand why and upon saving that setting my client proceeded to send 46 imaginary mails that had been queued since the problem arose. The path to that setting is...

Tools > Account Settings > Double click the account > More Settings > Outgoing Server > Select 'Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail'

This fixes Outlook 2007 error code 0x800CCC80

It's actually hard to tell. Outlook is more than a little annoying when it comes to progress reports. They are never displayed long enough to read.
