Are there any other Steam users on here? Have you been prompted to update Steam today at all?

I've not used Steam for a couple of days (thanks to my broken headset) and when I've launched it this morning it's performing a platform update. Unfortunately it seems "stuck" at 51% and won't proceed any further despite me restarting the PC several times.

If there are any Steam users can you confirm if this update is proving to be a problem for you as well?

Simon

I believe Niall is.  He's mentioned it a few times.

I am too but no platform update for me nor a client update but then I do manally invoke a check every couple of days.

pctech

Took a while to check for updates just now though.

Perhaps Valve are doing some work on the servers or adding more?

From a bit of reading I think it's because I'm running the Beta client (now has an ingame screenshot facility) and others are experiencing the same issue.

pctech

Ah, am running the stable release.

Oh. I was going to dash in and save the day. BETA you say?  :eek4:
I remember the days when all releases were beta from STEAM. I add that I did not install it back then. Waited a couple of years.

TBH I hate the DRM hell that is Steam.

Only reason I have it is because I've got Counter Strike Source and Half Life 2

Technical Ben

Compared to Windows Live for Games, EA DRM, Securirom and the likes. Steam is blissful.
The only problem is, games distributed from the above via steam include the lot!

I haven't had any client updates, but am only using the 'normal' version.

I was a bit late in replying due to a world ending hangover. Blinking hurt. Lots :(
