Hi guys

my wife has recently been complaining to me of slow internet speeds. I work away from home a lot and am usually only get home at the weekends. Anyway i have been experiencing the same, so today i went to the BT speed test site to start getting data so i could send it in to idnet support. Problem is i can use the test site as it says my phone number is incorrect. The last time i tried to use the site i was given the bums rush as well even when i supplied the service ID number. I have recently left BT with my land line contract and come over to IDNET. My question is what is BT up to? is this a deliberate ? How can i get any problems sorted out if BT wont let me use their speed checking site ?

Regards

You don't have callsign enabled, do you? If not, all I can suggest is contacting support for help as we don't, obviously, have access to customer data here.

Which version of the tester did you try? If there is an issue with your number not being recognised then IDNet will be able to contact BT regarding that.

Ive had that problem before and I just re try later and it works. The tester is a bit temperamental sometimes.

I have my phone with IDNet too, as do others here, and that shouldnt make any difference

Have BT broke it again?

When it wouldn't run last night I put it down to evening traffic, but it's still saying "Test Error" this morning.

That's on all three of my (Mac) browsers.

More than likely, Bill, we had another reported problem over the weekend. I understand that they're going upgrade from the Sinclair to a BBC Micro. ;)

The past week or so i've also been getting the 'test error'  so now when the first page loads, before i do anything i just refresh the page and then carry on, success.   :dunno:

Just to add to the variety of configurations here I have my phones with IDNet and broadband with Zen and it normally works for me.

Try updating Java from http://www.java.com

Doesn't work that way on a Mac... you get:

QuoteJava for Apple

Apple supplies their own version of Java. Use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java for your Mac.

I think most people do as I do and let it auto-check at intervals, that way it tells me when there's an update around!
