My profile has dropped from 3600mbs to .5mbs Saturday morning. Has anyone heard if Openreach are doing work at Frinton Exchange as I can find no mention of it.  I saw my router Netgear 2200 go offline and come back with the lower figures.  I connected my 2700hgv and the following shows up
DSL Connection Details
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)
Protocol: G.DMT Annex A
Downstream Rate: 3680 kbps
Upstream Rate: 704 kbps
Channel: Interleaved
Current Noise Margin: 15.0 dB (Downstream) 6.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation: 47.5 dB (Downstream) 31.5 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power: 19.3 dBm (Downstream) 2.5 dBm (Upstream)
After a BT speed test my profile has been set at .5 with a conection of .
500-1000bps but the connection as above.

I have had the above fast downlaod speed for the past 3.5 years.

Anyone got any ideas please?  Could an adsl filter have failed and caused this

Cant see anything on AAISP http://status.aaisp.net.uk who are usually the first to report such things.

Glenn

I can't find any faults reported for the exchange either, Alf.

Many thanks.  I thought I'd ask as Frinton Exchange is due to go to ADSL2 between 1st and 31st of this month.

I changed the filter and am now seeing the following
Protocol: G.DMT Annex A
Downstream Rate: 3712 kbps
Upstream Rate: 832 kbps
Channel: Interleaved
Current Noise Margin: 15.0 dB (Downstream) 9.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation: 47.2 dB (Downstream) 29.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power: 19.3 dBm (Downstream) 11.9 dBm (Upstream)
But the download is still only showing about .5mbs.  I suppose I'll have to wait to see if it speeds up again otherwise will have to contact Simon and Co at Letchworth HQ. ;D

It'll take a few days for the IP profile to recover Alf, leave the 2700 connected I'd say.

cavillas

Pobably will do as it seems quite good holding the line although the Netgear 2200 was as well but it did not hold at 3.6 but dropped to .5 and sloowweedd everyhting up. ;D

Sounds like a case for patience, Alf. ADSL2+ work would not have triggered this.

I think someone else coined the term actually on the basis that BT was forced to split in two.

It seems that my profile (and my waistline) is creeping up again, it's now at 2500mbs, so here's hoping. ;D

Rik

That's a strange size for a waist, Alf. ;D
