Strange email problem

I have just set up Windows Server Update Service(WSUS) on my Windows Home Server, so that I can use that to update my 2 desktops and Laptop instead of using Windows Update (one lot of downloads instead of 3).

I am trying to set up WSUS to email me periodic status reports but the problem I am getting is if I use my domain email addy or my 1 and 1 email addy as a recipent of these reports I get a mail delivery report from the mail servers complaining that the mail cannot be delivered as they can't find the domain. Strangely if I use my Idnet.com email addy as the recipient it works, I'm puzzled.

Yes, it's weird, Rik, especially as I was using my domain smtp server to send initially and I'm still using it with the idnet address as the recipient, seems to me that something is misconfigured on the other 2 servers or the email handling in WSUS is doing something they don't understand and the Idnet one does. Anyway I'll stick with the Idnet addy as it works.

Is the server inheriting the nameserver IPs from the router or have you set them statically?

My WHS gets it's IP from my router, the smtp servers I'm referring to are on my 2 domains, xxxx.co.uk hosted by 34sp.com and xxxx.com hosted at 1and1.co.uk. so I can't see why they are unable to deliver the messages because all the WSUS mail notification is doing is exactly the same as an email program, you just enter the smtp server to use and the authentication details and then add recipient email addys.

So all steps and inputs are exactly the same except for the final address? Have you tried IDNet smtp server to send it to your domain server?

Please don't take offence at the question but could you have possibly swapped the SMTP servers? (using 34sp's for your .com and 1 and 1's for your .co.uk)

OK, problem solved, I need some new glasses,   missed a letter out of the email addresses when I entered them.
