Awful service recently

Over the past week I have been suffering constant disconnects (Ranging from 6+ in one hour, to just 3 or 4 a day), slow speeds, and still packet loss(still).

Anyone else having the same problem? If I am the only one then I guess I will start uploading all my test results again.

Are the disconnects syn or ppp? I've going to guess sync which means it's a problem local to your line between your exchange and your house.

Would love to know as since this thread I have been disconnected four times! Getting a bit silly now :(

Check in the router logs, that should throw some light on it. Also, is it the Broadband or internet light on the router that changes during a disconnect? The internet light would generally be a PPP issue.

Sorry to ask more questions, but posting your router stats might also be useful, then someone can hopefully help you in the morning.

It's definitely a local problem, Westy, you're losing sync. What else is connected to the phone line?

I thought "lcp down" was a loss of connectivity to the ISP?

I thought that sequence was typical of a Netgear resync, Ted. Routerstats is called for. ;)

It is usually but I don't think modern Netgears can tell the difference in the log

Haven't used a Netgear for many years, so you're probably both right. I expect support would know for sure.

Either way, its a local issue. If its just PPP then its going to be work at the exchange or on the route to IDNet (given there isn't widespread reports, I expect exchange work), if its sync, then its between exchange and user.

As has been said, running routerstats should give the answer.
