Is anyone else experiencing problems with IDNet's DNS servers?

A few months ago I had a recurring issue where I was being continually redirected to BT Wholesale's splash screen http://62.6.38.125/index.html

I'm having the same problem this morning but unlike previous occasions, connecting via Google's DNS settings seems to have resolved the issue.

OK at present from my quick test. I see that there's been a brief service loss at 02.30 according to the status pages.

Thanks Steve, my router log seems to indicate that I didn't reconnect straight away. I'm not sure if that's the cause of my DNS issues or if it's a more local issue.

Not seeing anything currently . I would suggest David a 30min router power down and try again if that fails call support.

BTW on the mobile the WAP site is sometimes quicker and easier http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?wap2

I was trying the WAP link earlier but couldn't get it to resolve. I think I forgot about the '2' at the end  Thanks again Steve :thumb:

Company in disarray or trying to cause problems for competitors?

Rik

I sense that they've got the design of the 21CN network badly wrong, Mitch, and as more people move to it, the failings are showing.

My current connection runs at around 2.3mb, so an estimated 28mb connection will feel like moving from dialup again.

Oh thats hopeful Glenn perhaps I will get lucky as well, but without straying off topic will this new service be a good thing for Idnet ?I have been thinking and wondering if they might not be able to competer in the new market well for the domestic market at any rate I would think the big names will be swimmng around but I guess its no different from LLU but it boils down to cost I do hope Idnet stays in the same postition when it comes to this new service

Glenn

I believe that the 21CN connections represent a saving to them over the 20CN, so the more they can move to ADSL2+ & FTTC the better for the overheads.

You'll not know what to do with it. I suggest just uploading and downloading some Linux distros just for the thrill of it!  ;D

Ahh but you can stream films from lovefilm much more smoothly and upload to youtube or watch the HD 1080P stuff on there with ease, and have better video conversations, I really need full LLU  :bawl:
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

;D I have friends abroad and family so I chat using my built in vid camera so its as close as you can get to being in the same room as you can see and hear each other, helps when you are stuck in doors a lot. Sadly the only way I'll get these services to perform better is if I leave IDNet as our exchange has not even got a date for WBC, its to small to be bothered with. At some point I'll have to go with Xilo to get the speeds I need. Holding out here as long as I can though.

Edit, your signature made me spill my coffee it made me laugh so much

David

That makes sense now . mine is set for around Sept this year but in my case and to be honest I dont use my set up for freinds as I have none as in the way you describe and I really dont watch the films either on rare occasions I go and buy the odd film at the moment Made In Dagenham looks good but I will take a look in Sainsburys or Tesco but wouldnt go out my way for it.
So in my case I get download speeds of around 5 Mb at the moment and I cant see what great difference it will make for someone like me I guess i greatly under use my pc but cant see how super speeds will change anything for me or people like me  :dunno:
I an see why you want it and really hope it is sooner rather than later

Now about that coffee   ;D

Fibre wouldn't change my life either at present although the download speeds would save a bit of time.
