Yes, please see the table below for more detail:

LED color and behavior  Description

Solid Green                 Powered on and ready for use
Blinking Green             Firmware upgrade is under way. Do not power down the router during this period.
Solid Red                   Power On Self Test Failure or Device Malfunction.
Momentary Red           The Power LED lights red when the reset button is depressed five seconds, which resets the unit to factory default settings. When the reset button is released the Power LED blinks red three times and then turns green after factory default settings are restored.
Off                             Power is not supplied to the router.

I know I suggest this quite often but have seen it cure some odd issues on my own Netgear, have you tried a factory reset by pressing a straightened paperclip in the hole on the back panel while the power is still connected.

When power indicator blinks either amber or red after about 5 to 10 seconds of holding the pin in the firmware has been reset and it will then reboot and behave as new.

Got one of these for my Mother, horrible thing and it does not get good reviews but she just liked its aesthetics  ::) I would not touch one with a barge poll myself.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

I've got one and had absolutely no problems with it. Good functionality at a good price. Not quite sure why you call it a horrible thing?
