Win 7 bsod

Anyone had any issues with win7 64 bit since the update the other day/week? My system has been running fine, but last night I forgot to turn the PC off. It was sitting there idle with no programs running at all, but this morning it was at the login screen. When I started it up it said it had recovered from a bsod. I'll check the details when I get home, but the only thing that had changed on my system are the new windows updates, and last night psi installed the latest flash update. It was running fine after the updates too. I suppose I could have knocked it during te night

The only Win7 hangs I've had have been easily narrowed down to the graphics driver. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same here.

Well nothing has happened since. I've no idea what caused it, but I've had no problems at all with my system since the one problem. I find it odd that it happened while the system was totally idle. The only thing I can think of is an automated update on one of the security programs went wonky. I think Comodo system cleaner, avast and PSI are the only things I have that auto update, so it was probably caused by one of those.

It could have been a cosmic ray or similar causing a bit flip in the RAM somewhere. Seriously, it's not impossible without ECC RAM. Also, Windows defrags when idle and HDDs will occasionally have a non-recoverable error. It could just be something freak like that. Your system doesn't go to sleep does it? A lot of drivers are wonky about suspending/resuming still.

Oh, actually I have a dodgy backup hard drive. I wouldn't have thought that would cause a bsod though as that's just photos, RAWs and text documents, etc. Some are damaged due to the drive getting knackered. Honestly I don't know if the new system install trying to boot the PC with the wrong bios settings caused it, but on an old install it was fine, installing the new mobo had various options for the more modern SATAIII and the SSD. The drive would just click when the system was booting up, and when I realised the setting was wrong I changed it, but immediately after I had a LOT of corrupt files on the drive. It's a bit of a pain actually. I've got a LOT of RAW files from my photography, and without opening each one, I don't know which are knackered

Still, all is good. That being said, I have read the odd report of this motherboard being dodgy.
