I searched on info on different sites about setting my RWIN and it confused me even more as they all seem to have different ideas went to dslreport to ' tweak for speed ' and got well fed up with changeing the RWIN setting to different numbers, within the range they advice, and restarting my PC,could not find the best figure at all. The MTU setting was ok, went through the pinging process and my best figure was 1454 , which matchs the figure my router says is the highest it can be set, some sites say set it to 1500 but its to much for me.In the end i just left the RWIN setting to the default setting in Doctor TCP.

Rhino, many sites suggest setting your router to 1500 as it`s the Windows setting that applies first, but windows will be in conflict if the router MTU setting is lower than windows setting.

I have my router set to 1500 and windows mtu at 1430. To be honest, I didn`t see any difference between an mtu of 1430 and 1458.

If your router is set to 1454, set windows to 1430. I guarantee that mtuwise, you`ll be fine :)
