Loss of connection

Came home from work to find I have no Internet connection. As I recently went FTTC I have both a BT modem and also a Netgear router that I purchased from IDNet at the time of the upgrade. Router has already been rebooted so no idea if anything would have been in the logs but the slightly worrying thing is that the lights on the BT modem show an active (Solid green) connection light. As far as I can establish all connections are good - everything is connected where it should be but I have no connection and of course support is not available during the hours I am home - I leave for work before they start and get back after they finish which limits what I can do.

The IDNet status page has no mention of any problems, is anybody else having problems this evening or is it just me?

No problems for me on FTTC. The only thing I can think of is a local issue or an authentication problem.

Although I don't regret going FTTC at all it is a pain not having a spare router around that I could use to check for problems - I still have a couple of Netgears, several Belkins and even a Zyxel laying around, any one of which could have been used to make sure it wasn't a router issue.

Ah well, might have to spend time with the wife this evening  :eek4:

You don't need a router- just connect the Ethernet on the computer direct to the OR modem.

You'll need to set up a PPPoE connection on the computer, can't help with that but I'm sure someone else on here can!

Thanks guys, I'll certainly bear that in mind if it happens again as despite the fact it was off from at least 6pm (That's when I got home and was told that it was off) until about 8pm when I went for dinner it was back on by the time I had washed the dishes :)

Oh well, have to watch that soppy film another night :)

Plus if you leave a message with support when you have no connection you should get a response.
