LulzSec at it yet again

Notorious hackivist group Lulzsec has brought down Australian domain registrar and web hosts Distribute.IT and publicly published a list of 62,000 international email addresses and passwords.

The data files appear to be cobbled together from a variety of sources, but the Australian email details include a number from Australian universities and government departments including AusAID, the Victorian Department of Childhood and Early Education and several local councils in NSW and Victoria.

The Australian policy authority and industry self-regulatory body for the .au domain space, auDA, would not comment on the matter. The latest hack attack from LulzSec follows on from its CIA security violation yesterday.

Being doubtful of all things like this and after LulzSec's phone in stint via Twitter if you wnated to bring out new legalisation world wide making the internet a harder place fro free expression, creating a sop called group of crackers like LulzSec would be a great way of kicking off the ball of fear...just a thought

I think you are right Gary, its really going to speed along legislation to curb what can be done and what measures ISPs have to take e.g. traffic management

They didn't really have much choice I don't think after the Arizona hack.

I'm glad they have stopped, it might help reduce my workload. During the last week I've come into contact with a staggering number of people who have seen their login details and data in lights. The number of websites, forums and databases they have compromised in such a short space of time is incredible.

Is this primarily due to negligence, or crackable security, Zap? I wonder if it will push up the cost of website security as a result?
