This morning I turned on the computer to work out staff wages and could not print payslips because my printer (Canon 6700D) came up with the message "Printer off line".
I restarted the computer and turned of the printer then turned the printer back on and still the same. Then I thought it must be a fault on the printer as it appeared to start up OK and made all the usual noises on the computer. I then applied the Microsoft Cure and that fixed it fine and I was able to complete the payslips on time.

The Microsoft Cure by the way is to unplug the power, leave for 10 secs and plug it back in again.  :slap: ;D

They tried to remove the paper payslips at work but asked them not to, I have a file with every payslip I've had since I started working.

Was just as well as it turns out my previous employer had messed up my tax.

Lance

Your p60 will show tax paid in the year.

At work we have just moved to e-payroll which gives 18 months of payslips and p60s.

Though I'm not old fashioned in many ways I do prefer to get a paper payslip each month.

Still a great universal fix for so many things that loop out
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Indeed it is Gary, though some customers start rolling about laughing when I ask them to reboot thanks to The IT Crowd.

I tell them that in quite a few cases it does help because it re-initialises the kernel and services.

Indeed, indeed! A friend of mine was very impressed when I solved her printer problem by doing that a few weeks ago after she had tried for hours to get the thing to print. I usually prefer the 30 second variation of the procedure.
