IDNet outage?

All three of my IDNet lines had a brief outage this morning just before 10am... BQM graphs show this quite neatly... No loss of PPP though on any of the lines....

Anyone else?

Steve

I don't recall any outage, router showing no connection loss but TBB ping monitor shows a drop just after 10.00am

Yeah, me too, and the break on IPv6 lasted quite a bit longer than that on IPv4.

Interestingly, a tbb speedtest using IPv6 started giving sensible answers afterwards, I suspect something got tweaked :P

I wouldn't have noticed it but for the BQM graph and the fact that a VPN I have running dropped out... think it was pretty brief.

I had some sites that wouldn't connect for 5 minutes or so, that prompted me to look at the BQM.

Just before 10am? If so I had the same problem here.

Agreed Bill first time I've ever seen a sensible result on the TBB IPv6 speedtest

Yeah, about 09:50 from the router log.

(That's when it shows me as logging to it, there weren't any other indications)

It would be interesting to know who did the treaking- IDNet or tbb (or both).

I suspect it was IDNet; thinking back on it, most of the sites I couldn't reach were dual-stack.

As an afterthought, my IPv6 BQM has suddenly lost all its massive latency spikes:

It must have been a problem with TBB. If you look at the other latency monitor in my forum sig there's no sign of an outage there.

Not necessarily- the dual-stack sites I couldn't reach had nothing to do with tbb.

Anyway, I can't tell who it was but I know a man who can :P

Looks like I spoke too soon, it's gone horrible again... Simon Davies isn't aware of either doing anything, but there was a glitch on LONAP which might be worth following up.

I suppose when LONAP is routing IPv4 nicely, IPv6 is borked >:D

Routing is not something I know much about (to put it mildly!) but afaik IDNet have direct peering with NetConnex (aka tbb) so I'm not sure where LONAP fit in...

But it's a clue as to where some of the IPv6 oddities between the two might be coming from.

Well it is interesting that the IPv6 BGM worked well if only for a short time.

Tbb are running some tests, let's hope they find something!

We didn't have an outage but there was a brief issue reported on the LONAP peering exchange at 10am. We peer with Netconnex, who host TBB,  at LONAP so that would have caused the anomaly's on the graphs.

Steve

Thanks Simon, Indeed a couple of hours later we now have the Tbb IPv6 BQM and speedtest producing sensible responses.

Yes, it might turn out to have been quite a serendipitous failure :thumb:

But I'm not uncrossing my fingers for another 24 hours :fingers: :fingers: :fingers: :fingers:
