I've looked everywhere I can think of on the Idnet website but not found a definitive answer so maybe someone on here will know.

Is the OR modem leased/lent to you for the duration of your contract or is purchased by the user as part of the connection/installation fee?

Glenn

I don't know the answer, Griff, but I would think BT retain ownership of the unit. Maybe support would be able to clarify the issue?

I should have done that originally really Glenn but I thought I'd ask on here just in case.

Any way I've spoken to Miriam and the modem is lent to the end user for the duration of the contract. No-one knows at this stage if OR will request them back once the contract is terminated.

The reason I asked is Huawei (The OR modem manufacturer) have redesigned the modem, no doubt due to all the problems with the original, and begun supplying these in new installations -

As the modem is effectively leased to us as part of the service I wanted to know if we could exchange our current overheating modems for the replacements. Turns out the answer is no. At least not unless an OR engineer visits the property to confirm the modem is overheating (by picking it up I guess) and then authorises a replacement.

Sounds just like dealing with Sky.  :(
