It's a bit disappointing that AAISP can pre-warn their customers, granted it was "only" 14 hours notice, when we as Idnet customer got absolutely no warning at all  >:(

I have sent an email to support. Hopefully things will get back to normal. I run a VOIP server and everyone keeps dropping out :(

Why run a VOIP server on an ADSL link?

It's only a small one with 12k bitrate, it's radio communication based with only a few users. No huge bandwidth.

Anyway, my initial issue (on page 1 of this thread) seems to be correcting itself. I am not getting any packet loss and ping times are getting better so fingers crossed!

ive just gone though 13 hours downtime +3 hours earlier seems bt's computer system is broken

Niall

I'll be interested to see what routerstats says when I get home. I've left it running since my connection died at 8:30 last night.

Incidentally I've just had an email from AAISP promising to fix my line if I switch. Tempting.

saying is one thing doing is another at the end of the dya you will still be stuck on bt's cr*ppy network

Simon

Niall, you may recall David went through the whole AAISP thing of them promising to have the line fixed, and got nowhere, except back to IDNet.  Just thought I'd mention...

It costs nothing to try, free migration in, no fees at all if you leave within 30 days and if they say you need an Engineer call, then you are in exactly the same place as now and free to move to another ISP.

I'm actually not bothering to switch. I really like IDnet support, and how helpful they are. I'm just extremely frustrated at the moment, and was looking into my options. I've already told IDnet to go ahead with the engineer visit, which I think is next Wednesday (or Tuesday, I'll check :D). I just find it very annoying to be left completely in the lurch, and as BT don't tell IDnet anything at all, and what they do tell them isn't passed on to me so I can't even see what's been said. I never trust anything that isn't completely transparent. That's why AAISP's way of doing things is very appealing. You can see faults, you can see incident reports and you can see conversations they have with BT about your issue. While IDnet is great, there is non of that, so I'm left sitting here with no info, no help and no idea what to do other than hope BT don't charge me £200. I have nothing I can even tell the engineer when he comes, but another thing I was just told by my sisters other half is that IDnet support told them not to mention broadband when they arrive, just mention the phone issues or they'll bat me back to IDnet support AND charge me. No one at IDnet has told me that at any point, and if this is true then I'm very glad I was told by my sisters other half and disappointed IDnet didn't warn me of this!

While IDnet are VERY helpful and friendly, and knowledgeable it seems that when you get to a point where there's an actual problem, the help stops and information is scarce. This is THE point where you need help and info the most. Being left swinging in the wind with the threat of £200 charges does not sit well with me. Seriously, if it was any other company and you were left with no info, how happy would you be? I know that in the benefit system, if you haven't got enough info we get loads of flack. It's seems that BT and to an extent ISPs can happily chug along with no form of transparency, which is utterly useless to people paying for a service :(

Your sister must have had a voice fault and hence a voice engineer. You'll, I expect, be having a broadband engineer.

It's all very confusing for us stupid people ;D

My nm just leapt to 22 from 5.4. No idea why/how but the speed has plummeted to 3mb :(

If you've seen the opening credits of Torchwood, that's what my routerstats looks like ;D
