My annual subscription to this ended today. Since I've had it, it's blocked ONE item. I really don't think this program is worth the money, and not only that, the auto renew feature (which incidentally has my bank details stored, which I never agreed to) is more expensive than buying it the first time round. I've just checked their site and it's still £9.95 but to renew costs £12.95. Not only that, when I've just tried to update it, it suddenly can't connect to the update servers. Wow, that's convenient isn't it?

Assuming you have other security software installed, why not just have the free version, and use it to do a scan once a week, or so?

That's pretty much what I was going to say. Once a week, maybe more often I run SAS and Malwarebytes.

I don't really see the point of paying Superantispyware for "support" and realtime scanning when I've got MSE scanning in real-time for the really nasty stuff.

Avast caught more things that that did anyway. Plus I've got other things installed. I paid for SAS purely for automated updates, but the fact it's not caught anything at all (when it did catch something, it was also picked up by avast) makes me think that I don't even need the program at all.

Still, I can't beleive the cheek of them setting the autorenew feature to charge you £3 more than normal. That's disgraceful behaviour, overcharging people that actually trust you enough to pay you. Also, their site says £9.95 for a short period only. That short period has been approximately 2 years and counting...
