OK, here it is in a nutshell:

I've been running a 2700 with 5.29.117.6 for almost a year now with no issues, mainly running that firmware to allow the wireless signal boost.

I now need to program my firewall with port forwarding for a couple of devices which are not visible in the drop down 'Computer' list for setting the firewall.

I need to manually add their IP, as in the 2700 with firmware 6.

So here's the questions:

Is there a way to do this in firmware 5.## (if there is, I can't find it)
Is 5.## better than 6.## for long line length
Is there any appreciable difference in the wireless range between the 5.## boosted, and the 6.## as standard?

If there's no real difference in the line length and wireless ranges, I may as well just upgrade the firmware.

It's been a while since I've posted here, but in the past your info was quick and effective.

Thanks for any help guys.

AFAIK the device needs to be in the list for you to be able to program the firewall. I guess its not in the list because its got a static IP. You might try using the Address Allocation http://192.168.51.254/xslt?PAGE=C06&THISPAGE=A02_POST&NEXTPAGE=C06 to give it a fixed IP and then use DHCP on the device. That should make it appear in the list.
I've not got any V6 ones I'm afraid, so my input is based only on v5 versions. Problem with upgrading firmware to v6 is that its a one-way trip, there's no going back. :)

A bug prevents devices being listed if Fusion etc is turned off.  Enable fusion, re-boot the router and then wait for the devices to become visible*. make the necessary changes and then turn Fusion off.

* You may need to disconnect the devices, clear the devices list and then reconnect them again.

Thanks for the info guys.

I tried the Fusion trick, and then one device would appear, but the other wouldn't.

Then the setting of statics in the LAN settings played silly buggers.

So, I got fed up, took the plunge and flashed it with the latest Qwest.

While this worked, and I can connect, I can't even find anywhere in that firmware to set a static IP for a device on the network!

One step forwards, two steps back!

So, now I want to go to v6.  But I can't find a download!

I give up (I think!)

Any thoughts?
