Will be moving house soon, passing cost of ISP to son who demands high service/speed  :slap:

He is now thinking of http://aaisp.net.uk/    http://www.xilo.net/

I'm more than happy where I am  :shake:  any advice?

Rik

The speed you get will be dependent on how far you are from the exchange, Jill, regardless of the provider. It would be worth talking to IDNet before taking any decision, though.

AAISP = overpriced.

He could also look at Zen http://www.zen.co.uk if he really wants to leave IDNet though it is about the same prices and service but I found the network ever so slightly quicker but of course that was over a year ago.

What does he actually mean by "high service/speed" ?

Is he referring to:      high data rates?    low latency?   4 hour or 1 day fault resolution?
I'm desperately trying to figure out why kamikaze pilots wore helmets.

Difficult to answer without knowing what's available at your new house.

Technical Ben

Would he not be getting a similar product as to the one he already has? So it's just price and service that will differ. :)

Thanks for the input, pretty much what had gone through my mind, shame my son thinks otherwise!  :slap:

Send him here, Jill, we'll put him straight for you. :)

He might mean LLU as both AAISP and XILO do a LLU product if your exchange has it.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

pctech

If it ain't broke why fix it.

Exactly. Which is why I said it's a hard question to answer without knowing the new location.

As long as it's not a year contract too! as he will be stuck with it and not be able to come back here  :'(

He will not listen!  :shake:

I'm tempted to go to both of them as I think they offer LLU on talktalk networks (Xilo do AFAIK). If he is moving for LLU, he could double the speed and bandwidth for a couple of pounds more. I'd not complain with that. However, I'm happy for now with what I have for now. :)
