just tried to get the update for flash player and when trying to install I got a 'download configuration failed' error message.

have uninstalled the old version but still get the same error then when trying again the downlaod seems to have vanished from my system  :dunno:

Niall

I had that message last night, but I managed to download a windows installer file version through the PSI update program.

Try the psi program. It's free and very handy in this sort of situation :)

I swear by it, Niall, and occasionally at it, when it displays bad timing on wanting me to run updates. Using it means all my apps are kept patched and secure, it's well worth the download. :thumb:

might try again then. i think I found it a bit slow the scan side of it.unless it was my machine

.Griff.

PSI seems to have an obsession with Flash updates on my machine. I know it's updated quite often but literally every time I run a scan with PSI it insists I need to download Flash again.

Rik

I've had three clean weeks, but I know what you mean, Griff.

ah ha!  just remembered why I wasnt sure about it, its telling me that firefox needs updating but from FF itself is saying its up to date.which one is right  :dunno:

I got this last time  i tried it

Baz

its also saying I have XP professional when I havent

Glenn

Depends on which version of Firefox you have Baz, I believe 6.02 is the latest official release.

Rik

It's never warned me on Firefox, Baz, as FF has always beaten it to it. I suppose it's possible that FF is doing a background d/l, and isn't up to date right now, but since FF4, it seems impossible to check.

Is there something on your machine which could be confusing it?

You can find the version number under Help > About Firefox

Baz

in FF it says im on 6.0.2

doesnt sound right does it

Rik

It sounds to me like you've got some old files in place, Baz.

.Griff.

Maybe a good excuse to give Ccleaner a run.

Glenn

Can you remove 3.16 if it shows in the Control Panel?

Baz
