Take a look at www.opensignalmaps.com for coverage in your area.

Not sure if it is the coverage app that the BBC used.

It uses their own Android app Glenn. I tried if for a while and if I zoom right in on the map I can see a "blob" in my exact location where it's recorded my signal strength.
