Does anybody know how to get rid of the black band now showing at the top of Google page.

I have managed to get shot of the large blue arrow but can't remove the black band.

Do you mean the menu bar, Lona? If so, I doubt it.

Yes. It just appeared with a large blue arrow.  I thought I had accidently downloaded a google toolbar but it appears Google has decided that's how it should be.

The blue arrow was only added yesterday (as part of Google+) but the black menu bar had been there since June. At least mine has?!?

I can't say I had the black bar Griff but that blue arrow is terrible.  I have got shot of it but can't remove the black band.

There seems to be a few methods of removing it (or at least turning it white) but it depends on how much you want to mess about in order to do so.

On Google website it states that the blue arrow will only be there for a few days.  Hopefully the black band with go with it when it does.

In the meantime I have put https://encrypted.google.com/ as my homepage for now

I've managed to get rid of the black band using Greasemonkey addon for Firefox. :)

As griff has said, the black bar has been about or ages (for most people anyway).

I think lots of things are customisable. Do you use IE or Firefox?
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Lona

I use mostly Firefox

Whats wrong with the black bar anyway?

Baz

could it be if you actually click the link that the blue arrow points to then close it, that stops it showing next time  :dunno:

I also see that another feature is a right pointing arrow next to each entry in the list then if you mouse rest on it a pop up appears to the right giving a brief look at that page.I like this a bit better than the previous way when you could click on the text of an entry to get a preview, you then had to click again to get rid of it or it showed up on every item in the list...annoying when wheel scrolling

Gary

Black bar has been there for ages, its quite useful for shortcuts
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Much ado about little?

I'd personally be more concerned about what info Google is collecting about your searches.
