Blank screen on Vista laptop

I fired up my laptop last night, just for convenience, and found that although it appeared to boot up, the desktop wouldn't show, and all I had was a blank screen.  Oddly, I pressed the 'On/Off' button, and the shutdown screen then appeared.  After rebooting a couple of times, I managed to get into Safe Mode, and the desktop then showed, so I did a system restore to before the last Windows Update, which, I seem to recall, included graphics drivers, and sure enough, after the process completed, everything was fine again.

Windows Update has now run again, and all seems OK, so I can only guess that the graphics drivers didn't install properly with the last WU.  Just thought I'd mention this, in case anyone else has a similar problem.

Do you have Rapport installed on the PC, it was doing funny things 2 weeks ago to XP machines?

You lack Rapport. My that's a big social disadvantage. ;)
