Oo it can switch between antennas and make toast better calls supposed 4G speeds over 3G with some magical elf too. 8Mp camera and better battery. 1080P video, Face detection as well. Time to first photo: 1.1 seconds. Half a second for next shot. GSM and CDMA in one unit.

No doubt there will be long lines up to Apple stores tomorrow though because its new.

Steve

I think the intention of the majority US iPhone users is to upgrade

It's certainly an upgrade from the 3GS in terms of spec.

I liked the pcpro comment. "It has face recognition for idiots who can't point at a face" :D

Its not a massive upgrade from the 4, same sized screen is sad though.

I would agree with that.
I think people will move to android in their droves now, people want bigger screen real estate.

But how do you do that without making a larger phone? Does it not then becomes a niche product once is goes past a certain size

I know I want a larger screen. I'm only holding off buying the S2 because I read somewhere last week that a new phone was released last Friday. As it's 4G I doubt we'll see it here any time soon though. I really want to get away from my iphone though, it's really annoying me. I was hoping that this would be some sort of huge jump and be an iphone 5 with large screen, better keyboard, not linked to itunes, flexibility to install your own ring tones by literally adding them to a folder, allowing you to select them. Having the option NOT to use itunes is the way forward, or use their store, but they'll never do that, so I suspect I'll be off when a more powerful replacement to the S2 appears.

Well that seems to indicate it's a while off yet. Ho hum. 16mp in a mobile phone is very dodgy ground. They better be using some ground breaking sensor, or that amount of info on a little sensor would be noise-tastic.

The Sensation is actually not much bigger than the iPhone 4 Steve, when held together is really surprising how close they are.

Even with the security issues?  I wonder if BlackBerry will benefit from this?

You dont need to use iTunes Niall it has OTA updates and you can scan your entire music account and have it on a server, but still I take your point.

I'm probably one of the few people on the planet that thinks what they have done makes sense. I have an iPhone 4 which I've used for over a year. I've also recently tried many other types of phone but I still prefer the iPhone 4. I prefer the design and I like the way it functions and the fact that the only time I've ever had to read the manual was to work out how to take a screenshot.

If I can afford to I'll update to the iPhone 4S because it is more of the same. Improving on something that was excellent to start with makes sense to me.

With most smartphone screens at 4" or more, really after you have used one the iPhone looks awfully small and outdated.

Did I read somewhere that the 4 doesn't use a standard SIM card?  If I upgraded from the 3GS, would I need to get another SIM?
