Did I read somewhere that the 4 doesn't use a standard SIM card?  If I upgraded from the 3GS, would I need to get another SIM?

So, it is different?  Can they program the new SIM with my number there and then?

Probably the same as before I think. £599 for 32GB model I bet. You can get so much more in an android phone for so much less.

Yes its a Microsim, they sent me one ahead of the 4 and I swapped the number over on the day, you get an adaptor so you can put it in normal phones also

Apparently some investment companies who hold large stakes in Apple thought Jobs might make an appearance but apparently he didn't so the question is, is that the reason the share price is now dropping or are they just underwhelmed about the new product?

With most smartphone screens at 4" or more, really after you have used one the iPhone looks awfully small and outdated.

My failing eyesight would agree but I still find the iPhone 4 a comfortable size.

Does the superior resolution not compensate for the smaller screen?

Having used the HTC HD2, coming down to the 3GS was a bit of a struggle, and I still wish you could adjust the font size in Safari, but I've got used to it now.  I'd like to have a larger screen again, but I just don't like Android, and that really limits choice at the moment.

Android with the sense skin is fine though, better than Symbian. To get Siri you need a 4S Its not part of iOS5 as I assumed. so I will get one I think. Large screens are beter though, the Sensation really isnt much biger than the iPhone 4 get rid of that dumb home button and you gain loads of space, touch sensitive small home button and its done almost.

I wasn't sure about the bottom row of touch buttons on the Sensation.  I prefer hard keys there, as they are not so easy to activate accidentally.  My old BlackBerry Storm had the bottom row as touch, and it was really annoying.

Just watched the keynote, nothing really inspiring.

Steve

I agree but I after the issues with the launch of version 4 perhaps a middle of the road version was deemed a safe bet. I guess they'll have to be more innovative quite soon otherwise they'll get left behind especially when there's huge potential markets available in China and India.

I may look at one next time I upgrade depending on what happens with Android and upgrades,

Gary

Android need to unify and guarantee updates to handsets for greater than 18mths, your iPhone gets a few years...Also with all the skins over android that makes it worse, then there's the carriers...iPhones are not allowed to be tampered with by carriers, so not bloated software. Android over comes this and Google will know how many times you use the loo, just like Zuckerberg wants you to broadcast  On a side note, FF spellchecker on my machine underlines zuckerberg and offers c*cksucker as an alternative

Yep. If the battery dies on your andriod, it might be that "helpful help app assisting helpful apps to help our customers be helpful in helping" app the carrier installed with al the bugs to boot. :D

Just had a quick read through this thread and I found it quite amusing seeing as this is the biggest selling iPhone release.

Were you reactions knee-jerk or are you lot seriously disappointed?   ???

p.s. i'll be picking mine up from o2 tomorrow hopefully.
Vrooooooooooom........oh wait. Whats happened?

Technical Ben

TheMonkey, I think Transformers 2 outsold Transformers 1 at the cinema. Popularity =/= quality. ;)

The iPhone 4S is a really good phone. But most the comments here are from those with a iPhone 4 or those who don't need an iPhone at all. :D

I'm still of the opinion that Apple did the right thing, took a fairly solid product and enhanced it. I'm quite happy with my iPhone 4 so I'd obviously like a 4S. I can't justify it at the moment but I may well get one later.
