We have recently installed a Gigabit connection into Telefonica (whose brand names in the UK are O2 and BE Broadband). This enables us to provide broadband circuits for our customers utilising Telefonica equipment installed in BT Exchanges that cover around 70% of the population. The benefits are:
higher throughput speed because Telefonica do not use the Profiling system that BT employs - this can increase throughput speeds by 15%.
greater stability because BT's DLM (Dynamic Line Monitoring) system is notoriously fickle and can reduce speeds for long periods of time due to transit noise etc
and a better commercial arrangement for us, the ISP.

After completing successful trials we are now beginning to migrate lines to the Telefonica platform where we see that the line will benefit from moving. Our aim is to balance our traffic across both BT and Telefonica eventually. Any customer who would specifically like to have their line moved from BT to Telefonica please let us know. There is no change to any of the terms and conditions to any of our packages: all prices and bandwidth allowances remain the same and the minimum term is still a rolling one month. The migration MAC code system is the same for Telefonica LLU lines as it is for BT lines and so moving will not lock you into us, you can still migrate away at any time should you wish to do so.
